Waste managers invited to meet Belgian experts

Waste management experts from Belgium will be visiting Peterborough next month to showcase a new and innovative waste separation technology that could benefit UK companies and local authorities.

Economic development company, Opportunity Peterborough, is involved in an EU funded waste separate and cleaning solutions project called SEPARATE, in which partners from four European countries are involved. Project partners and waste management experts from Belgium will be visiting Peterborough between the 16th and 18th December to meet with interested waste handling organisations. During private appointments, they will showcase a new waste separation technology and demonstrate how it could be used to improve waste management processing.

The press is a waste pressurising machine designed to physically separate waste into two fundamental fractions, an organic wet fraction with hardly any non-organics, and a solid dry fraction with almost total absence of organic substances. The Press is already being used in waste management sites in Germany, Italy and in the UK at Heathrow Airport.

Following ongoing work with partners in Belgium and the Netherlands, Opportunity Peterborough is keen to highlight the benefits of this innovative and unique waste separation technology to the UK waste management sector and invites anyone working in the sector who is interested in learning more, to get in touch.
