Versatile city venue showcases its facilities to industry event organisers

THE East of England Arena and Events Centre has opened its facilities to event organisers from around the country to showcase its offering as a ‘gateway to doing business in the East’.

An audience of around 60 people – including event organisers and industry influencers – attended the special open day, which gave visitors the chance to see just what the venue has to offer in terms of space, flexibility, and location.

Lunch was provided by the venue’s new catering partners – nationally renowned Amadeus – served in the recently refurbished Cambridge suite, before a number of short speeches by key venue representatives promoting Peterborough and the venue.

An afternoon of fun the followed, with guests invited to drive fast cars around the venue, including an Aston Martin and a pink Cadillac! Thrill seekers also had the chance to ride at high speed in the original Colin McCrae 1997 World Rally Championship car.

The event was also used to officially announce a discount fare scheme in partnership with Virgin Trains, providing rail travel for passengers travelling to visit exhibitions and conferences at the Arena.

The offer, which is scheduled to go live towards the end of this year, will see visitors to events at the East of England Arena enjoying up to 30% off their advance purchase fares on Virgin Trains services to Peterborough.

In addition, the venue will also be working with selected hotel partners in the city – details of which can be found on the website – where visitors attending EofE events will benefit from discounted rates.

Open day organiser, Dean Rees, business development manager, East of England Arena and Events Centre, said: “The event provided a fantastic platform for us to show case the venue – and our refurbished facilities – to decision makers within the events industry. Our range of new partnerships – as well as the benefits of our location, the local economic growth and the versatility of the venue – set us apart from many other venues, positioning us as a gateway to business within the East of the country.”
