University Centre Peterborough to launch Small Bites learning programme at Skills Summit

University Centre PeterboroughPeterborough Skills Summit is promising to be an eventful day on Tuesday 30th November. Not only will it see the launch of the city’s Skills Vision; the Big Conversation between local businesses and young people from the area and a talk on the National Apprenticeship Service on their 100 in 100 campaign but University Centre Peterborough (UCP) will be launching their Small Bites of Learning, Leadership and Management programme too.

Small Bites is a work-based scheme that is aimed at continuing professional development through learning.  Participants will receive small bite sized portions of a course, which can then be built into a number of full qualifications from Foundation to Masters Degrees.

Dr Mark Mabey., executive director at UCP said:

“Small Bites will allow employees to access flexible and easily available qualifications in the work place. It is designed for them to upskill and at the same time accumulate credits towards a formal qualification.

He added; “We will be running some free taster programmes at UCP at the start of the year and we’re encouraging employees from across the city to come, as they can also access information on available funding options.”

Mark will be presenting at the Summit and will discuss issues including online and distance learning delivery and accreditation of in-house training.

Commenting on the Small Bites programme, Neil Darwin, director of economic development at Opportunity Peterborough said: “It’s so important that people have the opportunity to learn new skills and knowledge in their workplace and this innovative scheme will make a significant contribution to the ongoing development of our local workforce.”
