Have you noticed a spare plot of land near you that is not being put to use? Forest for Peterborough, run by the charity PECT, is looking for your recommendations of any unused land space that you have noticed in Peterborough that could be used for tree planting.

Perhaps you have noticed a spare piece of land near your workplace or that you regularly walk your dogs past? If so, then Forest for Peterborough would love to hear from you! The project aims to plant one tree for every person living in Peterborough, and there is still need for additional land space to plant more trees.

By increasing tree coverage across the city, it creates a multitude of benefits, not only for the environment, by absorbing carbon dioxide and providing a habitat for wildlife, but by providing cleaner air for communities and health benefits for us too.

”It’s essential that we secure the land space going forwards, in order to continue this project into the new season and make sure that we can carry on making Peterborough a greener and healthier place to live,” says Project Officer Simon Belham.

The project is looking ahead to the next planting season, which will start in October 2017, so make sure to keep your eyes peeled for spare land before then. Also, there are exciting opportunities for you to get involved by volunteering with Forest for Peterborough and taking part in its tree planting days, which are suitable for all ages and abilities.
