STAFF at city accountancy firm Rawlinsons rolled up their sleeves to volunteer in four local organisations as part of a special charity week.

Just over 40 staff took a paid day out of the office to help local charities as part of the company’s ongoing commitment to community volunteering.

A number of projects at chosen charities were earmarked for assistance including sorting household goods donated by the public at Carezone; helping create space for gym activities at the YMCA Community Gym in Bretton; helping New Ark Play Association prepare for their summer festival; and supporting the NSPCC Service Centre in Fengate with basic marketing activity.

“In total, our staff volunteered 226 hours throughout the week. It was a rewarding experience for everyone who took part and it simply emphasises Rawlinsons’ ongoing commitment to community volunteering,” said Rawlinsons Partner Ken Craig.

“The idea flowed from our 75th anniversary activities last year when staff got involved in volunteering work with local charities as part of our celebrations.  Everyone enjoyed the experience hence this latest initiative which we hope to repeat on an annual basis.”

Rawlinsons also raised £870 for Sue Ryder Thorpe Hall Hospice from a Human Hound Race at Peterborough Greyhound Stadium which was supported by Hegartys, Barclays Bank, Savills, Handelsbanken, and Sue Ryder.
