Surge in demand for IT roles sees agency launch recruitment drive

TECHNOLOGY is continuing the march forward and with it demand for those able to manage and develop its use is on the up.

Since 2009 there have been year on year record rises in the number of IT roles created nationally. A report from sector skills council e-Skills uk reveals IT employment is set to grow at twice the UK average between now and 2020 with around 129,000 new recruits needed each year to fill IT and telecoms jobs.

According to leading independent agency Anne Corder Recruitment, that picture is reflected locally. The agency is now working to pinpoint those with the necessary skills to ensure businesses in the Peterborough region have access to the expertise they require.

“As companies start to shake off the effects of the recession, they are investing in computers, equipment and also in their online marketing strategies,” said recruitment partner Nel Woolcott. “Part of that growth involves recruiting new staff with the right skills.

“We have seen an upturn in demand for those able to provide front line and technical support for IT systems and others with web design and development skills.”

The agency has launched a recruitment drive in response to the surge in demand and is holding a dedicated open day on Wednesday (Nov 7).

“We will be looking to identify candidates suitable for a number of vacancies we already have and also to gain a general understanding of the skills available in the city,” said Nel.
