Steve speaks at Smart Cities Conference

Opportunity Peterborough chief executive Steve Bowyer will be speaking at Britain’s Smart Cities Conference in London on Tuesday (OCT 11).

The event, which features leading industry speakers and smart city pioneers from a wide range of sectors including local government, infrastructure, engineering, ICT and transport, will discuss the importance of smart cities for the UK economy.

In November, Peterborough was crowned World Smart City of the Year 2015. Delivered by economic development company Opportunity Peterborough and Peterborough City Council, the Peterborough DNA Smart City programme focuses on growth, innovation, skills and sustainability with the goal of making Peterborough a better place to invest, work and live.

Steve will be discussing the challenges of ageing infrastructure, innovative solutions around the UK, and how Britain is viewed internationally in Smart City terms.

He said: “Peterborough is leading new approaches to smart city development. Our innovations are being monitored around the world as is our ongoing work to create the UK’s first circular city.”

Steve, along with Future City Officer Emma McKenna, will also be running a seminar entitled How Peterborough businesses can benefit from the creation of the UK’s first circular city as part of the Peterborough B2B Exhibition at Kingsgate Conference Centre, Peterborough, on October 19.
