School holidays should be a time of long, fun-filled days spent having fun. However, the reality for thousands of children and young people from underprivileged families or those in care is often very different.
The holidays can also be an extremely stressful time for many parents and carers, most of whom are working simply to pay the bills and put food on the table. The hard truth is that childcare is a secondary consideration and the child’s school holiday of fun often simply means sitting at home watching the TV or wandering the streets, with all the temptations and social misbehavior we all know this can lead to.
YMCA Cambridgeshire & Peterborough is offering these children the chance of a school holiday they will never forget, one filled with fun activities where they will learn new skills but we need your support to be able to provide this programme.
But in order to do so, we need your help.
YMCA Holiday Clubs offer children the opportunity to experience the great outdoors and inspire children to take on new challenges. A range of exciting activities is on offer to give children aged 6–14 a real adventure in their school holidays. As a child did you ever want to try paddling boarding, canoeing or rock climbing? Did you have a passion for wildlife and want to go on a bug safari?
For many children from underprivileged backgrounds or in care, these adventures during the school holidays are just a dream. Simply by sponsoring an underprivileged child’s place you will give these children the school holiday of a lifetime, the opportunity to build their confidence, try something new and have a real adventure.
The Sponsorship Package:
We are offering your business the chance to sponsor a child from foster care or an underprivileged background to attend the YMCA Holiday Club during the school holidays. Each package costs just £50 child per day which will provide them with a wide range of activities including lunch. In return, sponsors will receive a marketing and publicity support package.
When:
- Easter: 10th – 21st April (Excluding Good Friday and Easter Monday)
- May Half Term: 29th May – 2nd June
- Summer: 31st July – 25th August
- October Half Term: 16th – 20th October
