Why do RSP Safety Services use the SMAS Worksafe scheme? Because it shows Competence – the scheme is externally audited every year and is a member of the SSIP (Safety Schemes in Procurement) which is supported by the HSE. The SMAS Worksafe Scheme is a way of demonstrating our Health and Safety competence and gaining a nationally recognised (SSIP) certificate.
As many Clients now only use contractors and consultants selected from an approved database (who have demonstrated the appropriate level of competence in their health and safety management systems), they would look to the SSIP scheme as reassurance that the assessment meets the stringent criteria set by the Construction Design and Management (CDM) Regulations 2007 – Clients with duties under these regulations must satisfy themselves that the businesses they engage or appoint are competent in Health and Safety – They must make enquiries to check that the organisation or individual is competent to do the relevant work and can allocate adequate resources to it.
What is the benefit for potential customers? Our Certificate of membership confirms we have been assessed and accredited. So any client wishing to procure the services of RSP Safety, can be confident that a reasonable and robust judgement has been made and that the standard for competency in the CDM 2007 appendix has been met.
