RSP Safety manages safe success!

Diane Smith of RSP Safety Services delivered the IOSH Managing Safely course in October 2012 for eleven delegates and today received confirmation of 100% pass for the course.

The IOSH Managing Safely course is designed for anyone required to manage health and safety in accordance with the company’s safety policy and health and safety legislation, i.e. Managers, Supervisors, Assessors, Safety Representatives.

Why do we approach health and safety any differently – as you wouldn’t attempt any other aspect of your management role without training?

The course covered a broad range of management skills to apply to safety and health issues:
*Why it is important to manage safety and your responsibilities as a manager
*Risk assessments, types of risk assessment and how to do them
*Risk controls, safe systems of work, personal protective equipment
*Understanding responsibilities—requirements of the law, RIDDOR, health and safety management systems
*Common hazards in the workplace e.g. chemicals, workstations, working at height, fire, noise, manual handling, stress, etc
*Identifying basic, underlying and root causes of accidents; reporting and investigating accidents
*Measuring performance—What it means, how to measure health and safety performance, and auditing
*Impact of industry, controlling waste and pollution and environmental management systems

To pass the course the delegates had to complete a multiple choice exam at the end of day 4 and a risk assessment project had to be completed within two weeks.
