Roythornes appoint legal heavyweight to support growth

Roythornes Solicitors has appointed a heavyweight private client specialist to lead its Nottingham-based team of legal experts.

Paul Thompson is now a partner at the top 150 legal practice and brings with him more than 2 decades’ experience in the private client sector, specialising areas such as capital taxes, trusts, wills and estates, and providing advice to charities and trustees.

He joined Roythornes earlier this month after heading-up the private client team at national law firm Freeths. Paul’s considerable experience will support Roythornes’ ambitious plans for growth, not only to develop the private client team’s expertise, but also Roythornes presence across the East Midlands and Anglia where the company now employs over 180 employees.

Speaking of the new addition to the team, Roythornes’ managing director Vember Mortlock said: “Paul is an expert in a number of key areas in which we specialise, including tax matters and succession planning. This is particularly important for landowners who form a large part of our client base.

“To employ such a well-respected and renowned specialist within the private client sector is a strong reflection of our ambition to develop the business and the importance that we place on this type of work. I am delighted to welcome Paul to the team.”

Speaking of his appointment at the firm, Paul said: “Roythornes has a great reputation for employing trusted advisors and it’s exciting to be joining such a talented team. The private client sector has been, and is set to be, subject to numerous significant changes. I am looking forward to seeing how these will shape the industry, and ensuring clients are provided with the best service possible to benefit them, their families and businesses.”

Roythornes is one of the top 150 law firms in the UK.  Earlier this year it was listed in the London Stock Exchange’s “1000 Companies to Inspire Britain”.
