Over 270 volunteering hours have been donated by the team from city accountancy firm Rawlinsons, who were given the opportunity to take a paid day out of the office to help local charities as part of the company’s commitment to community volunteering.

A number of projects at chosen charities were earmarked for assistance including painting a mural to brighten up the children’s area at the Vivacity Library in Hampton with local artist Lee Mason; helping Disability Peterborough promote their shopmobility services in Queensgate Shopping Centre; working on maintenance tasks at Nene Valley Railway in Wansford and hedge trimming around the wildflower meadows at Nene Park.

The team also planned their own litter pick around the city centre, collecting over 20 bags of rubbish and organised an internal collection of much needed items for the Peterborough Foodbank.

“Our volunteering week is a really great initiative and has been well supported by staff,” said Ken Craig, partner of Rawlinsons Accountants, part of the Baldwins Group. “The idea flowed from our 75th anniversary activities in 2016 when staff got involved in volunteering work with local charities as part of our celebrations.  Everyone enjoyed the experience hence the introduction of the annual volunteering week.”

Individuals choose which project they wished to support and the activities took place between June 25-29.
