The second Smart Supper event, which sees students from secondary schools across the city develop ideas to solve key local challenges, will take place on Thursday 19th March 2015.
The event follows the success of the first Smart Supper, which took place as part of Peterborough Innovation Week in November 2014, where teams of students pitched ideas to solve the city’s sustainable transport challenge.
The theme of this month’s event will be – how to encourage people to value water in Peterborough? The students will present their ideas to an audience of city leaders and businesses on the evening of 19th March.
The event, run in partnership by University Centre Peterborough (UCP) and Peterborough DNA – the programme shaping a smarter, more sustainable city – aims to encourage young people to use their imagination to come up with unique approaches to a problem.
After all the teams have presented, audience members will vote for their favourite pitch, and the winning team will receive the proceeds of the night to go towards launching their idea.
Steve Bowyer, acting chief executive of Opportunity Peterborough and director of Peterborough DNA, said: “The Smart Supper event was a huge success in Innovation Week, so we are delighted to be running a second event so shortly after. The feedback from students and businesses alike was overwhelmingly positive.
“The event is part of DNA’s objective to inspire innovation and empower skills aspirations within the city.”
