Staff at Anne Corder Recruitment are set to take part in their very own ‘Swap Shop’ as part of their commitment to Green Office Week (May 9-13).
Members of the team have been invited to bring in unwanted gifts, grown out of children’s toys – in fact anything in good condition they no longer want or need – to swap, in an effort to encourage the reuse and recycle message. A cupboard has also been cleared to house the ACR book, DVD and CD library for staff to donate to and borrow from.
The initiative is part of the Park Road agency’s involvement in the third annual Green Office Week.
ACR’s self-styled Green Champion Lucy Whitwell said: “Everyone has items in their cupboard they’ve never used or gifts they have never been keen on. This is the perfect way to get rid of them while ensuring they go to a good home. The only rules are that the items must be in good condition, and no live swaps – partners, children or pets – are allowed!”
ACR has won a handful of awards for it’s green policy but Lucy is working hard to ensure the message continues to be heard – and steps taken to improve further the agency’s eco-credentials.
“We’ve been planting a tree for every candidate we’ve placed in a permanent role and our office has lots of lovely plants so Thursday will be given over to educating members of the team about the real value of plants in improving the office environment,” said Lucy.
And after a week of hard work focusing on the environment, staff will be rewarded with Fair Trade Friday when an array of Fair Trade food goodies will be on offer.
“As an office, and individually, we like to think we are very green. The changes we have implemented over the last three years from becoming virtually paperless to putting compost bins in the kitchen have not only made us greener as a company but have increased our efficiency and saved money,” said Lucy. “By signing up for Green Office Week we are reinforcing those messages and also hoping to encourage other companies to follow our lead.”
