Olsen Partnership creative shortlisted for National Award

The creative team at Olsen Partnership is delighted to share some exciting news with you.

A new food waste collection campaign they developed and delivered for Enterprise Peterborough has been shortlisted for the Local Authority Innovation Award, at this year’s prestigious National Recycling Awards, which celebrates excellence across the waste industry sector.

Olsen Partnership was tasked to engage the residents of Peterborough in a way that would ensure a high uptake of the new scheme and more importantly be positively received by residents in terms of why the new service was being launched.

The service was fully rolled out to 78,000 households over a six-week period in October 2012 and within the first 12 weeks, 1,000 tonnes of food waste was collected. By 31 January 2013, the service had saved Peterborough City Council £40,000 in landfill charges and is on course to exceed the target of £300,000 in savings.

Cabinet Advisor to the Deputy Leader, Councillor Gavin Elsey said, “Being a finalist is a real honour and recognises the fantastic work carried out by the teams at Enterprise Peterborough and at Olsen Partnership for creating the campaign, developing the now recognised Hungry Harry and Recycling Rita characters, and delivering all elements of the campaign.”

The winners will be announced at the National Recycling Awards on Wednesday 3 July at the London Hilton Hotel and we wish Enterprise Peterborough and Peterborough City Council the very best.
