National Apprenticeship Week

As part of National Apprenticeship Week 2015, The Skills Service is hosting a free business breakfast to celebrate apprenticeships and the positive impact they have on individuals, businesses and the economy. ‘Grow Your Own Talent’ takes place at The Cresset in Peterborough on 10th March from 7:30 to 9:30am.

Grow Your Own Talent

Businesses are invited to hear the facts about setting up an apprenticeship, from funding opportunities to different levels and frameworks. There will be real-life case studies from intermediate, advanced and higher level apprentices and their employers, plus the chance to meet local providers. Places can be booked at: www.growyourowntalent.co.uk.

Acting Chief Executive of Opportunity Peterborough, Steve Bowyer, said: “We are increasingly receiving requests from businesses for information about apprenticeships so our ‘Grow Your Own Talent’ event is the perfect chance to find out all you need to know and listen to real-life experiences.”

The event is part of the eighth National Apprenticeship Week which this year has a theme of ‘Did you know…?’ In an attempt to ‘bust some myths’ about apprenticeships, the National Apprenticeship Service is trying to raise awareness of some interesting statistics, such as:

  • Since 2010, over 2 million apprenticeships have started in England
  • Apprenticeships are available in over 170 industries, including aerospace, fashion, broadcast media and finance
  • Women now take up 55% of apprenticeships
