Million pound refurbishment latest in changes for regional venue

THE rebranded East of England Arena and Events Centre (formerly Peterborough Arena) has invested £1 million into refurbishing two of its main suites.

The Cambridge and Peterborough Suites – used for corporate entertainment and public events, as well as business workshops and company seminars – have been given the cash injection from venue owners, the East of England Agricultural Society.

Higher ceilings, attractive lighting, new carpets and floors have helped to make the popular areas much brighter and more user friendly.

This is latest in a series of improvements at the East of England Showground venue , which recently awarded a £4.4 million catering contract to NEC providers, Amadeus and has also announced a series of top name comedy performers to appear at the centre.

Recently, science superstar Prof Brian Cox kicked off his UK tour at the venue with a sell-out show.

In addition, Dean Rees has taken up the post of business development manager with a focus of attracting more B2B activity to Peterborough, making it the gateway in which to do business in the East of England.

Around 800,000 people visit the EofE Arena and Events Centre each year. General manager Jason Lunn said: “We are delighted with the refurbishment of the suites, which are now more in keeping with the new brand and other changes here at the venue. A number of companies have used the suites for corporate functions and the feedback has been very positive.”
