METRIX MARKETING AWARDS LUCKY STUDENT PLACE ON LONDON PR COURSE

Peterborough-based marketing communications company Metrix Marketing (www.metrixmarketing.co.uk) has awarded a local student a place on a CIPR (Chartered Institute of Public Relations) one-day workshop in London.

Jasminder Sagoo, 17, a student at the College of West Anglia in Kings Lynn, entered a press release competition organised by Metrix after visiting the company’s stand at the Opportunity Peterborough careers fair on 18 July in Peterborough.

Metrix shared the stand with other Peterborough-based communication agencies Athene Communications and Media Matters to form a PR and communications hub, offering advice to any students who were thinking of going into a career in PR or marketing.

The competition required students to write a press release for distribution to the national media on a recent or upcoming Peterborough event. Metrix challenged the students to promote the event and the city of Peterborough using engaging and informative copy.

Jasminder’s press release on the recent Levity Festival in the city was judged the overall winner and she will attend the CIPR workshop called ‘Introduction to PR Strategy and Planning Campaigns’ in October.

This workshop will show Jasminder how to pull together a professional, strategic PR campaign from scratch. She will also learn how to follow a step-by-step process, from taking a brief to finalising plans and getting sign-off.

Hannah Thomas from Metrix Marketing said: “The workshop will be a great learning opportunity for Jasminder and will provide her with a good insight into a career in PR, as well as being an impressive addition to her CV.”

Jasminder commented: “This is a fantastic opportunity for me and I am really pleased to have won. Although I am studying for my A levels at the moment, I want to go into a career in marketing or PR so the London workshop will give me a great insight into this industry. I can’t wait to go!”
As well as arranging for Jasminder to attend the course, Metrix is paying for her train travel to London. The course was donated by the Chartered Institute of Public Relations as a prize in the competition.

Metrix Marketing was formerly Smye Holland Associates, a marketing communications company established in 1987. In May 2012 the company changed its name to Metrix Marketing to reflect the wider range of services it offers and its commitment to delivering real, measurable, results for its clients.
