METRIX CHARITY CHOCOLATE TASTING BOOST TO SUE RYDER APPEAL

Peterborough-based marketing communications company Metrix Marketing (www.metrixmarketing.co.uk) brought more than chocolates to a local hospice. The company’s Callebaut Chocolate Tasting event at Thorpe Hall helped raise £370 for the Peterborough Sue Ryder hospice’s £6 million appeal to improve quality of care for patients.

The event on Tuesday 14 May began with a five-minute introduction from Kate Daimond – one of the regional fundraisers at Thorpe Hall – explaining a little of the history of the hospice and about the charity’s plans to build a state-of-the-art hospice in the grounds of the hall. This was followed by a chocolate tasting experience and chocolate-themed quiz.

Chocolate lovers enjoyed the challenge of trying to recognise exotic flavours blended into different types of chocolate. Combinations like white chocolate with lemon sherbet proved popular. Tasters also revelled in a nostalgic quiz on the theme of favourite chocolate bars and their advertising slogans.

Kate Daimond said: “It was great to see so many people come out in bad weather to help raise funds for the hospice appeal. I was pleased to see everyone enjoying the chocolate.

“I have to say I for one enjoyed it all – except the chilli and dark chocolate combination.”

Mike Holland, managing director at Metrix Marketing, said: “We are privileged to be in a position to assist a good cause like Thorpe Hall hospice. This event brought together two things quite close to my heart – quizzes and chocolate.”

Mike added: “This month also marks our first anniversary as Metrix Marketing so the chocolate tasting gave us the opportunity to celebrate that at the same time as helping to raise much needed funds for charity.”

As well as raising cash for the appeal, Metrix also gave chocolate bars to hospice nursing staff.

Metrix Marketing was formerly Smye Holland Associates, a marketing communications company established in 1987. In May 2012 the company changed its name to Metrix Marketing to reflect the wider range of services it offers and its commitment to delivering real, measurable, results for its clients.
