We’re running special features on the sponsors of the Bondholder Garden Dinner Party 2013. To find out more about this prestigious networking event, please call 01733 317417.

Thank you to Serco, Barclays, Barker Storey Matthews, Barnack UK, Buckles Solicitors, and Peterborough Regional College for their kind sponsorship of the event.

1. Tell us a little about Barker Storey Matthews

Barker Storey Matthews is one of East Anglia’s largest firms of Chartered Surveyors specializing in commercial property, providing a comprehensive range of services and advice to companies throughout Cambridgeshire, Norfolk and Suffolk as well as the surrounding neighbouring counties of Lincolnshire, Rutland, Northamptonshire Bedfordshire and the home counties. We have 18 property professionals in our offices based in Peterborough, Huntingdon, Cambridge and Bury St Edmunds, including 11 Chartered Surveyors and a Chartered Town Planner and have substantial unrivalled local experience. Indeed our directors based in the Peterborough office have over 100 years combined experience of property matters in the city!

We act for local, regional and national companies, Plc’s, financial institutions, banks and pension funds as well as statutory authorities, charities and private individuals.  No property is too large or small.  We advise on all aspects of commercial property from small starter industrial units to multi-let estates, corporate head office buildings, retail shop units, leisure developments and development projects.  Services include lettings, sales, acquisitions, rating, planning, building surveying, all forms of valuations, rent reviews, lease renewals and investment.

2. What’s your greatest achievement or claim to fame?

We are an established Estates Gazette “top 100” firm and have been voted the most active regional agent in Cambridgeshire Norfolk and Suffolk for 10 years.  In 2011 we were voted the East of England Property Advisor of the year.  We are proud to support various local initiatives and Opportunity Peterborough in supporting and promoting the city

3. What’s your next big goal?

We want to expand the business to incorporate other aspects of work to ensure we offer our clients a one-stop shop for commercial property.  We have recently formed a new building surveying business, BSM Noble and are looking to double turnover within 12-24 months, concentrating on project management and development monitoring of construction projects as well as dilapidations, building surveys, defect investigation and building conservation  – an ambitious target but something we feel is achievable.  We are also always looking to improve the marketing of our clients properties and have recently introduced a new and improved web site to include property videos, something new to the commercial property market.

4. Why is being in Peterborough good for business?

Peterborough is well located, affordable and offers plenty of opportunities for companies to relocate, expand and diversify.  The city has a good development track record and PCC, with Opportunity Peterborough, are able to offer a fast track service to companies wanting to invest in the city.
