A Peterborough-based firm is leading the charge when it comes to jobs creation in the electric car sector.
Smart Home Charge is a nationwide installer of car charge points for the home and is offering exciting career opportunities in the electric car sector.
The company has seen enquiries increase by more than 1,000% year on year compared to September 2019, while website visits are also up by 848% in the same period. In response, the business is embarking on a recruitment drive to bring in top talent.
Smart Home Charge is part of Response EPR Ltd – an already successful and long-established electrical business working with the UK’s top insurance companies – which has enabled the business to meet the rapid increase in demand for home car chargers to become one of the UK’s top independent installers.
To continue to meet the rising demand and sustainably manage the business’ growth, the company has recently expanded its HR and Training department as well as adding to the customer service team, but expects more jobs to be created at its Peterborough head office.
Graham Warby, founder and managing director, said the growth has been phenomenal but not unexpected:
“Smart Home Charge is constantly evolving and the impressive growth, even throughout lockdown, means we are able to offer fantastic career opportunities in the local area. We are looking for people who want to work in the electric car and eco-tech sector to help drive the business forward.”
Graham says the strong foundations of Response EPR, which has years of experience operating nationally, has enabled Smart Home Charge to grow. But the company’s ethos of keeping things as simple as possible has also been a major factor.
“You have to make things simple. We are all time-poor nowadays, so we are always looking for ways to simplify our processes and ensure electric car ownership and charging at home is not a daunting prospect.
The Smart Home Charge editorial team, which produces written and video guides about EVs, has also been key to the company’s rise according to editor and marketing manager Danny Morgan:
“It might seem strange for an electrical installation business to have an editorial team but building trust with our customers has been a crucial component of our growth.
“To build that trust, we need to show customers that we know what we are talking about when it comes to electric cars, which is why we spend a lot of time producing videos for YouTube and writing about the latest car news.”
