A Peterborough based charity has benefited from a marathon rowing session by leading law firm Roythornes.
The firm’s ‘Row for a Reason’ event saw 56 colleagues come together to take on the challenge of ‘rowing’ between the firms’ oldest office in Spalding to their newest in Abingdon, Oxfordshire – a total of 188,000 metres.
With rowing machines provided by local gym Smudge Fitness, catering donated by Clark Catering and logistics support from Mr Shifter, the team ‘rowed’ an incredible 253,663 metres – that’s the equivalent of 146 miles.
Sara Wilkinson, Head of Roythornes Events team said:
“Little Miracles does some incredible work in Peterborough and the surrounding area and has been selected as the Charity of the Year for our Spalding office for 2026.
The events team brought together colleagues and local businesses to support Little Miracles, creating a great atmosphere, with fierce competition between individuals for the top distance rowed.”
The event raised £425 on the day, with more donations due to come in over the next few weeks.
After last year’s cycling challenge event and the rowing this year, the team are already thinking about the format for next year’s challenge.
Sara added
“We’ve not yet decided what the 2027 challenge will be, but we’re confident the team will get behind it with the same enthusiasm they’ve shown over the past two years. We’re looking forward to raising more much-needed funds for local good causes like Little Miracles.”
