City law firm Roythornes has joined a scheme alongside some of the UK’s biggest food companies to encourage young people to consider a career in the food sector.
The scheme, ‘Feeding Britain’s Future’ is run by the Institute of Grocery Distribution and backed by companies such as Coca-Cola and Heinz together with all the major supermarkets and manufacturers.
Under the scheme, which runs throughout September companies give advice and information on careers in the food sector and how to prepare for them. Roythornes, who have a large food team are running a CV and interview workshop for jobseekers, in conjunction with PR agency Pelican.
Speaking about the scheme, Marketing Manager Mark Dodds said:
“The food sector is one of the region’s major employers and we’re delighted to be able to support the scheme in this way. The scheme are particularly pleased that a law firm and a PR agency have joined forces as they are very keen to show the range of jobs available within the sector.”
As well as offering practical advice on CV writing and interviews, the workshop will explain how each firm works with the food industry.
Mark continued:
“People don’t always appreciate the size and complexity of the food sector and the businesses that operate around it. We hope to show the range of opportunities available.”
