Housebuilder and developer Larkfleet Homes ( has presented a selection of books to Alderman Jacobs Primary School ( in Whittlesey as a ‘thank you’ to pupils who took part in a naming exercise for its new development.

Earlier this year, Larkfleet asked pupils at the school to come up with names that it could incorporate into Whittlesey Green, its new housing development in the town.

Larkfleet aims to use some of the suggested names for streets or areas in the new development.

Mayor of Whittlesey, Cllr David Mason, recently visited the school to officially open its new library and Larkfleet took this opportunity to present the selection of educational books to the school as a reward for the pupil’s participation in the naming exercise.

The library opening event and Larkfleet presentation coincided with the school’s ‘book week’ and many pupils and teachers dressed as their favourite characters to celebrate.

Larkfleet marketing director Helen Jones said: “Larkfleet enjoys working with local people and communities in areas where it has developments. The pupils came up with some great naming ideas for our new Whittlesey development and it is a pleasure to present these books which will be used by children now and in years to come. We hope to work with Alderman Jacobs Primary School and its pupils again in the future.”

Work on Whittlesey Green, located between Drybread Road and Eastrea Road in Whittlesey, will begin soon. The development has been designed with plenty of space for residents to live and grow within a real community.

It will include 15 different house types ranging from two-bedroom starter homes to five-bedroom executive homes.

Larkfleet intends to include PV (photovoltaic) solar panels as standard on all properties at Whittlesey Green, so homebuyers can benefit from reduced energy bills and generate an income from selling their excess energy to the grid under the government’s Feed in Tariff scheme. The PV panels will produce electricity from daylight, generating useable power even on cloudy days.

Larkfleet has several developments across the East Midlands and East of England including Bourne, Pinchbeck and Deeping (Lincolnshire), Peterborough (Cambridgeshire) and Oakham (Rutland) which offer plenty of choice for those looking to purchase a home.
