ABOUT THE ROLE

This is a fantastic opportunity for a passionate and driven advanced manufacturing specialist to promote and support the adoption and integration of Industry 4.0 technologies and design principles within small and medium sized manufacturing enterprises (SMEs) and their supply chains across the Greater Cambridge Greater Peterborough area.

LOCATION

Based in Peterborough, with some remote working, and a requirement for travel to client and event sites throughout Cambridgeshire

ABOUT THE SMART MANUFACTURING ALLIANCE

The SMA (Smart Manufacturing Alliance Ltd) is a joint venture that has been established by Peterborough’s economic development company, Opportunity Peterborough, and the Cambridgeshire and Peterborough Combined Authority.

The SMA has been established in order to drive productivity, innovation, and sustainability improvements in the manufacturing sector, primarily within the Cambridgeshire and Peterborough area.

As part of this programme, the SMA will promote and support the adoption and integration of Industry 4.0 technologies and design principles within small and medium sized manufacturing enterprises (SMEs) and their supply chains across the Cambridgeshire and Peterborough area.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Reporting to the Programme Director of the SMA the Manufacturing Business Adviser’s key responsibilities will be:

  • Support businesses in the identification, adoption and integration of Industry 4.0 technologies.
  • Deliver audits, benchmarking and visioning sessions, to enable businesses to identify relevant Industry 4.0 technologies.
  • Deliver grant funding support sessions, enabling businesses to access financial support for the adoption of Industry 4.0 technologies.
  • Host workshops to deliver and support productivity improvements, innovation and business growth from the adoption of Industry 4.0 technologies.
  • Create and deliver programs, events and activities to enable manufacturing businesses to adopt Industry 4.0 technologies and become more competitive.
  • Support the creation and delivery of training programs to provide the skills required to fully utilise Industry 4.0 technologies.

PERSON PROFILE

Ideally the successful candidate will possess most, or all, of the following experience and attributes:

  • Knowledge and understanding of Industry 4.0 technologies, their benefits and uses.
  • Experience of delivering change, or leading projects within the manufacturing industry.
  • Ability to build trust and credibility with manufacturing business leaders.
  • Ability to work under pressure, to tight deadlines, and balance conflicting priorities.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, including the ability to present in public.
  • Strong use of initiative and the responsibility to deliver.
  • Proactive team player with excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to develop robust relationships across the public, private and third sectors at all levels.

On occasions, some flexibility of hours may be required to attend evening or early morning meetings and events
