OVERVIEW

Opportunity Peterborough [OP] is an economic development company, tasked with driving economic growth through engaging and supporting businesses, marketing for new investment and leading skills development for young people. It is now supporting South Kesteven District Council through the InvestSK vehicle.

An ambitious and visionary plan has just been launched by the Leader of South Kesteven, and InvestSK has a crucial part to play in delivering that aspiration. OP has been asked to support that owing to its track record, and this individual will have both the challenge to meet these high expectations, but more importantly the rare opportunity to directly influence the economic growth of an area.

 

PURPOSE OF THE ROLE

To drive job creation and the growth of the local economy of South Kesteven, by being the single, recognised point, for business growth enquiries and all business needs.

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • To act as the point of enquiry for all business related requests in South Kesteven – advising on access to funds, support, scale-up, enterprise development and growth.
  • To proactively engage with local companies, particularly larger employers, and local business networks – pulling together insights to inform strategic approaches to economic growth.
  • To provide full support for inward investment in the InvestSK team, by identifying new market places and target sectors, and helping to build the collateral and propositions to attract new employers.
  • To integrate closely with other members of the InvestSK team to ensure the business voice contributes strongly to the area’s growth plans.
  • To build positive and productive relationships with LEPs, county council and other strategic partners.
  • To formally represent InvestSK at conferences and trade fairs, and deliver presentations to a wide range of external partners.
  • To carry out duties as requested by OP and InvestSK’s Senior Team.

 

Person PROFILE

Essential:

  • Sound knowledge of the economic and business environment and demonstrable credibility with businesses at all levels
  • Exceptional presentation skills, and the ability to frame a proposition that will secure new investment
  • Experience of account management and demonstrable success in winning new business within a B-2-B environment
  • Outgoing, proactive and creative approach to delivery
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, including the ability to present in public
  • Strong use of initiative and the responsibility to deliver
  • Proactive team player with excellent interpersonal skills

Desired:

  • Direct participation in inward investment campaigns.
  • Experience will be paramount, but qualifications and training in relevant field would be advantageous.
