Our core responsibilities include engaging with local companies to support growth and development, marketing Peterborough, attracting inward investment and leading the city’s skills agenda to ensure our current and future talent pool is work-ready. We also deliver a number of specialist projects to boost the local economy, and recently helped Peterborough become a World Smart City.

OP is a well-respected organisation that sits in the space between the public and private sectors, with a clear focus on economic growth. We are consistently looking for new opportunities for funding and new business leads to maintain and grow the company, and our operational systems need to maximise those opportunites.

 

PURPOSE OF THE ROLE

To support the CEO by heading up all of the company’s business operations: ensuring the company runs smoothly, efficiently, and effectively, with due accountability to the board and our partners.

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Maintain, and where necessary establish, all the company’s business operations.
  • Manage the business operations team.
  • Provide an overview of the accounts, financial management and budgets of the company.
  • Support the CEO in the development of annual business plans, budgeting and forecasting.
  • Ensure all governance structures and responsibilities are clearly set out, adhered to and maintained.
  • Ensure all HR matters and personnel development plans are expedited appropriately.
  • Provide expertise and oversight of contracts (existing and new) and identify new business opportunities.
  • Keep an overview of overall programme management activities and ensure funded projects are well-planned and meet required KPIs.
  • Provide support and oversight of the company’s IT infrastructure and communications.
  • Manage all property related issues including rents, rates, engagement with the landlord and future accommodation issues and opportunities.
  • Develop relationships with key partners where essential for the smooth running of the company.
  • Advise on cost and operational efficiencies to identify long-term effective delivery of services.
  • Undertake resource plan for the company to ensure capacity is appropriate to tasks.
  • Carry out duties as requested by the CEO.

 

Person PROFILE

Essential:

  • Excellent experience of managing business operations.
  • Financial management experience.
  • Experience of team management and personnel development.
  • Good interpersonal skills to build confidence and trust within the team.
  • Strong attention to detail and planning.
  • Experience of building sound business plans.
  • Experience of developing new commercial or other funding streams.

 

Desired:

  • Experience of developing new business models.
  • Experience of working in the private sector.
