Opportunity Peterborough is a highly respected organisation which plays a key role in delivering the economic growth agenda for the city. Our core responsibilities include engaging with local companies to support growth and development, attracting inward investment and leading the local skills agenda to ensure the current and future talent pool is work-ready. We also deliver a number of specialist projects to boost the local economy and recently played a key role in supporting Peterborough become a World Smart City. In addition, we also supply services to other local authorities and provide strategic advice to key local partners, including the Cambridgeshire & Peterborough Combined Authority, as well as national agencies.

This is a high profile, highly influential role. The Chief Executive will drive the organisation’s growth agenda for Peterborough forward and will play a key role in shaping and delivering the economic vision for Peterborough.

In this role, you will provide strategic leadership and direction to the organisation, utilising the resources available in the most effective way to help the organisation meet its goals. Experienced in organisational leadership, you will have the vision and passion to develop and drive forward, high profile strategies designed to grow economic development in the Peterborough area to the next level and beyond.

REQUIREMENTS

You will have proven experience of preparing and delivering complex business plans designed to support the organisation’s vision, strategic objectives and priorities for Peterborough. Able to manage the financials and resources effectively, you will ensure that income and expenditure is managed in an appropriate manner and in line with the requirements of the Board and funding partners. Experience of successfully managing, promoting and developing complex public/private sector partnerships in a leadership role is a key requirement for the position, together with a proven track record in delivering economic development outcomes.

As the ambassador for Opportunity Peterborough at events and conferences, you will be inspirational, an excellent communicator and highly capable at building productive relationships between the organisation, its members and other public and private sector stakeholders. As a highly respected individual in the business community, you will be dynamic, articulate and delivery focused. Excellent influencing, communication and presentation skills will be a given.
