ABOUT THE SMART MANUFACTURING ALLIANCE

The SMA (Smart Manufacturing Alliance Ltd) is a joint venture that has been established by Peterborough’s economic development company, Opportunity Peterborough, and the Cambridgeshire and Peterborough Combined Authority.

The SMA has been established to create a membership network of manufacturing groups, sector based special interest groups, and associated programmes of support, in order to drive productivity, innovation, and sustainability in the manufacturing sector, primarily within the Greater Cambridgeshire and Peterborough area, but it will welcome members regardless of their location.

The objective of the SMA is to build a world class advanced manufacturing and engineering cluster with a clear comparative advantage, and competitive, innovative, and resilient supply chains. It is intended that at its core the Smart Manufacturing Alliance will be a membership organisation.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Reporting to the Programme Director of the SMA, the Business Support Coordinator’s key responsibilities will be:

  • To act as a direct point of contact on a day-to-day basis for the SMA programme. This will include making contact with individual businesses and stakeholders as well as organising networking events as appropriate.

  • Maintain and update the SMA network with a particular focus on the network hubs.
  • Maintain the Membership Network and produce the newsletters and marketing material sent to our members.
  • Working with the Marketing and Communications Team to ensure that the content of the SMA website is up to date and relevant, and finding creative ways to share our news with different audiences via our websites and social media accounts.
  • Working with the SMA team to take a proactive approach to promoting the programme within local and national media.
  • Supporting the delivery of projects by third party agencies ensuring satisfactory outputs and appropriate engagement between them and businesses.
  • Providing support for Advisory Board meetings, including distribution of papers and minute taking.
