The launch this week took place during the Corporate Social Responsibility Event at The Allia Future Business Center. The main presenters and worthy winners of the Evening Telegraph Awards for CSR were Princebuild Ltd and was attended by many local businesses, including Queensgate, Cross Keys, Soul Happy and resided by The Major John Fox.
Now when it comes to giving back to your community, what is the first thing that comes to mind? For most of us, it’s volunteering or donating to a cause you believe in. Both of which are very noble ways of contribution. But these are not the only ways. Volunteering your time is profoundly rewarding, however, the donation of your highest strengths and talents is far more rewarding and pleasurable than traditional volunteering, because it combines the elements of meaning and engagement.
The launch of As and When this month brings and connects students, retirees, self-employed and corporates together to offer help and support, all in one place. So, you can look to use your skills, knowledge or talents to help and give back. You will also be able to find someone to help you, either professionally or practically, if and when you need it.
Charities can post what they offer, find local support and people to get involved in a project. Many charities want you to find their services, by using the site, this allows people to find the best option that matches their need for help.
Students gain experience to add to their CV by offering their skills to those that can use them. Retirees are an untapped resource and their vast experience is needed by others, adding more value to society. We all are unique and our skills and knowledge are useful to someone.
For many people living with purpose is a highly sort after necessary. We are increasingly seeking purpose, meaning, and connection in our lives. In the last 10 years, social innovation has become big business. It appears increasingly the CEO’s now share the vision, that purpose is emerging as the new driving force of the economy. They see that understanding the importance of purpose – for employee, suppliers and customers – will soon mark them difference from their competitors.
