Green revolution hits Moore Thompson Chartered Accountants
Green revolution hits Moore Thompson Chartered Accountants

As Governments around the world make pledges to reduce the effects of climate change, East of England accountants Moore Thompson is taking additional steps to become a more sustainable business.

The firm, which has offices in Wisbech, Market Deeping, Spalding and Peterborough, has already taken several steps to make their operations greener but they are now launching a new campaign to go even further.

With their latest eco strategy, they hope to tackle the issues of recycling and waste by rolling out a number of improvements, including:

  • The addition of recycling bins in communal areas to increase the recycling of waste
  • The phasing out of all paper coffee cups and plastic cups
  • Investment in new mains fed water filter units to replace office water coolers.

As part of this campaign, every member of staff is being gifted a water bottle and KeepCup so that they do not have to use disposable products around the office.

Although these steps are small, the firm hopes to prevent over 26,000 coffee and plastic cups from going into landfill each year, as well as drastically reducing their carbon footprint.

Mark Hildred, Managing Partner at Moore Thompson, said: “These are small steps to becoming more environmentally aware and creating a more sustainable workplace in a project that will be ongoing over the next few years

“Although our profession may not be seen as a big polluter, we feel that we must do our bit to minimise our carbon footprint. It is only by coming together and doing our bit that we can eliminate waste and harmful emissions.”
