GPP Forum will celebrate five years of ‘creating a bigger and better Peterborough’

It’s been five years since the Greater Peterborough Partnership was launched to help create a bigger, better, Peterborough.

This year’s annual forum will celebrate the progress that has been made since 2008 as well as establishing what happens next.

The Greater Peterborough Partnership is Peterborough’s Local Strategic Partnership, the body that unites representatives from the public, private, faith, community and voluntary sector together to work collectively towards the vision and priorities of the Sustainable Community Strategy.

The forum takes place at The Voyager Academy on Tuesday July 16, from 4pm to 7pm.

The leader of Peterborough City Council, Cllr Marco Cereste, will open proceedings by reviewing the achievements made over the last five years in delivering the vision of a ‘bigger better Peterborough’, as well as outlining future plans to further the progress.

Other guest speakers include the Chief of Executive of Peterborough City Council, Gillian Beasley; Cambridgeshire’s Police and Crime Commissioner, Sir Graham Bright; Chief Executive of Opportunity Peterborough, Neil Darwin and Interim Director of Public Health at Peterborough City Council, Sue Mitchell.

They will be joined by the Chief Executive at Vivacity, Kevin Tighe; Resources Manager at Peterborough Environment City Trust, Janine Starling; Head of Planning Services for Peterborough City Council, Simon Machen and Assistant Director for Education and Resources at Peterborough City Council, Jonathan Lewis.

Director of GPP, Richard Astle, said: “The annual forum will give us the opportunity to look back at the progress that has been made since the partnership was launched in 2008. It will also look ahead to the ambitions of the next five years.

“This is an open invitation so we look forward to a good attendance at the forum to hear the views of our speakers.”

The forum is open to the general public and offers a chance to ask questions about all aspects of Peterborough’s agenda for the future.

Notes to editors:

• The Greater Peterborough Partnership is Peterborough’s local strategic partnership.
• The GPP is not an organisation. It does not deliver any of the projects or services that will deliver the improved outcomes we aim for. GPP’s role is to facilitate joined up work and to ensure that the work of the individual partners is targeted at the priorities collectively agreed.
• GPP oversees commissioning of services and projects to help deliver the aims of the Sustainable Community Strategy, having an important leadership and performance management role, although all the partner organisations retain their own responsibility and governance arrangements.
