Government speaker to consult businesses at networking breakfast event

A representative from the Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy (BEIS) will be the headline speaker at the next Bondholder Breakfast event organised by Opportunity Peterborough on 21 March 2017.

Pete Northover, Assistant Director at the Cities and Local Growth Unit within BEIS, will be talking to delegates about the government’s Industrial Strategy green paper which was released for consultation with businesses UK-wide on 23 January 2017.

Whilst the strategy sets out provisional plans and early actions, the government has called on the UK’s businesses across the country, in every sector and of all sizes to give their feedback by 17 April 2017.

“I’m delighted to be talking to Peterborough’s businesses about the Industrial Strategy green paper” said Pete. “We’re asking for businesses across the country to review the green paper and tell us how the government can support their sector’s growth and development.

“I look forward to hearing delegates’ thoughts at the Opportunity Peterborough Breakfast and would urge others to read the Strategy and feedback before the consultation closes in April.”

The event is being sponsored by Rawlinsons who will be sharing findings from the annual Greater Peterborough Business Survey which measures business confidence and performance across the city.

Steve Bowyer, chief executive of economic development company Opportunity Peterborough, said: “We’re delighted to have secured Pete Northover as the headline speaker at our March Breakfast. So much is changing in the UK, the EU and around the globe that this is an opportune moment for businesses to tell government what their industry needs to further its growth.

“The local economic intelligence gathered from Rawlinsons’ business survey which will be shared at the event, along with delegate feedback on the industrial strategy, will all be valuable insight for Pete to take away to try and shape the government’s future plans.”

The Breakfast event is open to Bondholder members only and will be running from 7.30am – 9.00am at the Allia Future Business Centre on 21 March 2017.
