Former BBC presenter heads to Peterborough for the region’s biggest green business event

Investors in the Environment (iiE) is delighted to announce its VIP guest speaker for this year’s iiE Awards 2017. The guest speaker for this year is Phil Williams, the founder and director of Plan-It Eco, an organisation that champions the environmental education of schools and businesses.

Phil will be speaking at the annual iiE awards, an event that celebrates the eco achievements of organisations across the region. This year’s event will be held at Peterborough’s Kingsgate Conference Centre on Tuesday 21st February.

The event brings together both existing members and non-members of the iiE green accreditation scheme to celebrate the achievements of those businesses already part of the scheme and is a great opportunity to learn best practice from those businesses.

Phil has many years of experience in public speaking, starting out his career as a presenter for BBC Educational TV before working as a director within the television industry. As a well-travelled speaker, Phil returned to the UK in 1996 after living in Central America, to launch his one person operation Plan-It Eco to take action inspired by what he had experienced. Touring the UK and Europe, Phil is experienced in delivering programmes, training seminars and speeches to over 500,000 people.

Phil’s presentations cover the need for businesses to be more pro-active and innovative in their approach to sustainability, but also show the monetary benefits of a company working towards becoming more sustainable.

Acting sustainably shouldn’t be seen as a burden, instead Phil explains how businesses should see it as an opportunity to improve efficiency, engage and inspire staff, and ensure that profits are maximised in the medium to long-term.

As part of the awards, businesses can discover how membership of iiE can help transform workplace practices, in order to make savings whilst reducing organisation’s impact on the environment.
