Festive Cheer at Cathedral’s Christmas concert

Cambridge-based brass ensemble, Prime Brass, will join Peterborough Cathedral Choir, Youth Choir and Festival Chorus for a Christmas concert on Friday 19th December, directed by Steven Grahl at Peterborough Cathedral.

The evening’s programme includes John Rutter’s “Gloria”, a lively and exuberant piece which opens with the angels proclaiming the birth of Jesus, a setting of words from St Luke’s Gospel. This will be followed by the polyphonic sounds of “Missa Bell’ Amfitrit’ altera” by the late Renaissance composer Orlando de Lassus. At the finale of the concert the audience is invited to join in singing favourite Christmas carols.

Steven Grahl, Director of Music at Peterborough Cathedral, said: “Come and enjoy some festive cheer! Our concert gives you the opportunity to hear Christmas music new and old with the Cathedral’s renowned choir and one of the region’s top brass groups. I look forward to welcoming you to the glorious surroundings of Peterborough Cathedral.”

The concert starts at 7.30pm and tickets range from £12 to £25. They are available from Peterborough Visitor Destination Centre on 01733 452336, Stamford Arts Centre on 01780 763203 or buy online at www.peterborough-cathedral.org.uk

The concert is sponsored by Hunt & Coombs solicitors.
