Zero Waste Workshop
Dates(s) - 24/10/2017 - 24/10/2017 10:00 - 12:00
Peterborough Environment City Trust, 4-6 Cowgate , Peterborough, PE1 1NA

This is a chance to make your organisation one of the leaders in developing more sustainable business practices in Peterborough.

Even if your organisation is achieving ‘zero waste to landfill’, there could be even more savings open to you! Join us for an engaging session with the Future Peterborough team to learn about the circular economy and how your organisation can adopt its principles to increase the resilience of your business so you reduce your waste and save money.

A circular economy aims to keep materials and products circulating in the economy for as long as possible. This means making the most of the resources that we have, whether that be products, skills or spaces.

The aim is to work together to maximise the full potential of resources that we have locally to support economic resilience, develop stronger communities and increase environmental sustainability.

All businesses can take some practical steps towards using their resources more effectively and reducing their environmental impact; it could be utilising materials and equipment in your office more efficiently, maintaining products for as long as possible, finding another business that could use one of your waste streams, and even altering your business models. These types of actions can not only reduce your environmental impact, but also have financial gains from improving resource productivity, securing alternative revenue streams or reducing the costs of getting rid of your waste.

From this session, you will take away an understanding of:

  • How your business can get involved (e.g. pledging support to the Circular Peterborough Commitment)
  • The 7 R’s and how they may relate to your business (Reuse, Recycling, Redesign, Rethink, Remanufacture, Repair, Recover)
  • Important first steps and considerations
  • how Share Peterborough, the free resource sharing platform, could support your organisation’s journey towards reducing waste.
