Olympic Badminton medal winner Gail Emms to speak at the Peterborough Women’s Development Community (PWDC)

Peterborough Women’s Development Community are delighted to announce that Gail Emms will attend the next PWDC event on Thursday 6 April 2017 at the Allia Future Business Centre.

Gail will speak and hold a discussion session with the participants about the secrets of her success and how to perform at your best – as well as balancing career and young family, and transitioning from one career to another.

Jennifer Cramb, one of the founders and member of the co-ordinating group for PWDC said: “We are really delighted that Gail will come along to discuss and share her secrets to success and her own learning and techniques that enabled her to excel.  Gail is an inspiring and engaging speaker and this is a great learning and development opportunity for women (and men!) in Peterborough to gain inspiration, motivation and learning from a top athlete.”

Thanks to generous sponsorship from Anglian Water, PWDC can ensure that this event is free and open to all participants.  PWDC are delighted to have this sponsorship.

About Gail Emms:

Gail is a British badminton player who has achieved international success at the very top of the game.  Along with partner Nathan Robinson, she has been No. 1 in the world at mixed doubles, All England Champion and Olympic silver medallist at Beijing.  In addition to Olympic success, she won gold with Robertson in the World Championships and Commonwealth Games.

Since retiring from the sport, she had transitioned to become a versatile and talented sports presenter on programmes with Sky Sports, BT Sport, 5 Live and BBC A question of Sport.

Gail will be in conversation with PWDC members to speak from her experience about:

  • Self-belief and how to grow it
  • Her route to Olympic success and what it takes to excel
  • Successful partnership when you are very different personalities!
  • Managing and balancing career and young family
  • Career transition from elite athlete … to what? Handling transition and creating a new identity and career

About PWDC:

PWDC was born from a conversation last summer between a small of interested (and interesting!) women, keen to create something stimulating

And beneficial for professional working women in Peterborough.  The purpose of the community is:

For professional women to gain inspiration, ideas and strategies to gain confidence and make ‘more of themselves’.

  • For less experienced women to gain help, guidance and mentorship from experienced local professional women….and maybe a few men!
  • To remain free of charge to members, so long as we can secure support from the city’s leading organisations.
