Businesses are being invited to climb aboard at the Peterborough Dragon Boat Festival as it celebrates its 20th anniversary.
Already the first teams have signed up to take part in the Festival, styled on traditional Chinese water-based races. Up to 50 crews will be battling it out at Peterborough Rowing Lake on Saturday 9 June, supported from the bank by those who prefer to stay dry!
The Festival has once again joined forces with charity partner Sue Ryder Thorpe Hall Hospice. It’s hoped teams will help raise £20,000 for the Peterborough hospice to celebrate the special anniversary.
Each team will race at least three times – with semi finals and then a final deciding the winners. Fancy dress is encouraged and there’ll be lots of bank-side action to enjoy too.
This year’s Festival was launched with the help of Olympic gymnast Louis Smith at sponsors Motorpoint in Peterborough in February. Also supporting the event, organised by Gable Events, are Connect FM and ESP magazine.
