Businesses are being invited to join in a celebration of eco achievements at the annual Investors in the Environment (iiE) Awards, held at Peterborough’s Kingsgate Conference Centre on Tuesday 2nd February, from 5.30pm-8.30pm.

This year’s VIP Guest Speaker has been announced: Clare Brass, Head of SustainRCA, a cross-departmental centre for sustainability at the Royal College of Art. Clare was previously Leader of Sustainability at Design Council before setting up SEED Foundation, exploring the role of design in creating and supporting social business, and using the learning from environmental research to create enterprise opportunities.

This event will be bring together existing members and non-members of the green accreditation scheme iiE, providing a fantastic opportunity to celebrate the achievements of those businesses already part of the scheme and to share environmental best practice.

iiE member businesses can secure Bronze, Silver or the highest level of Green accreditation, plus at the Awards they can discover who has won further awards – such as ‘Best Green Champion’ and ‘Overall Achiever’.

The event is a great opportunity for other businesses that are interested in improving their eco credentials and joining iiE to attend alongside those receiving awards. Businesses can discover how this not-for-profit environmental accreditation scheme and green membership can help them make savings whilst reducing their impact on the environment.

There will be networking opportunities, plus a showcase of green products and services to inspire attendees in environmental best practice, with innovative green initiatives which can be adopted within their own businesses.

The not-for-profit iiE accreditation is unique because businesses must achieve a minimum 2% improvement (where possible) in resource efficiency over an agreed baseline figure to secure green accreditation. Other criteria include having a recycling system in place, adopting a travel plan, calculating carbon footprint and setting targets for carbon reduction. Businesses also get support to progress each year through toolkits, telephone support, and PR of business best practices.
