February 2018 Bondholder Breakfast
Dates(s) - 01/02/2018 - 01/02/2018 07:30 - 09:00
Allia Future Business centre, London Road, Peterborough, PE2 8AN

In our first Bondholder Breakfast of 2018 we’ll be taking a look at the circular economy -how it’s changing the business landscape and how Peterborough’s internationally renowned circular economy programme will be shaping the city.

The circular economy is revolutionising how we use and perceive ‘waste’. Coming with it are plenty of commercial opportunities to make resources go even further. It’s even been highlighted by the UK Government as a key lever to increasing productivity and supporting clean growth in its recent Industrial Strategy White Paper.

Peterborough’s Circular Economy programme is seeing the city mentioned alongside New York, Vancouver, Rio de Janeiro and Amsterdam as a thought leader in developing a more resilient economy.

In the last year alone, the team running the programme has been invited to share their expertise and experience at international conferences in Helsinki, Portugal, Dubai, the Netherlands and Ireland. Their work will even be featured in a Spanish documentary on the Circular Economy on TVE, Spain’s equivalent of the BBC, in January 2018. The city’s circular economy programme is run jointly by Opportunity Peterborough and Peterborough City Council.

It doesn’t matter if you’re in an office, a factory or a warehouse, your business may already be on the path towards achieving circularity.

Within our talk we’ll be covering:

  • the achievements of the Circular Peterborough programme and our exciting plans for 2018 to secure Peterborough’s position as a global leader in the circular economy transition
  • the business case behind the circular economy and why companies across the world are committing to finding new ways to use their ‘waste’
  • practical steps local businesses can take to cut costs and protect the environment by adopting circular economy principles with Business in the Community and their Circular Economy Taskforce members (e.g. Boots, PwC, Lloyds Bank, Unilever)
  • the commercial opportunities – we’ll hear from Bio-Bean who are making bio-fuel with waste coffee grounds (and even powering London buses!)

As the circular economy holds potential for all companies, we’re making this an open event. If you’re company’s not a member of the Bondholder Network simply email: bondholder@opportunitypeterborough.co.uk
