Where:  Peterborough Museum, Priestgate, Peterborough PE1 1LF
Meeting Point: Squires Coffee House

Speakers: Paul Kneller CMILT, Multilingual Rail Specialist

This is a brief, informal excursion through an international career mainly in the railfreight business, including taking a look at how railfreight, particularly in the UK, is successfully shaping up for future challenges.

The speaker will share his own reflections on a career formed, in hindsight, out of a fusion of his interest in rail, languages and travel and punctuated by distinct points at which a change of direction occurred, the first being from technical to commercial.  His career path also took in rail passenger and ferry business, international freight forwarding and contract management, Channel Tunnel construction and start-up, and later on rail consulting. A further “change of points” took him into Business English teaching in Germany before relocating back to the UK (for the third time!) where he now runs a small translation business. Transferable lessons learned will be happily exchanged with those of fellow Institute members!
