Event to celebrate the launch of business support boost for city’s young entrepreneurs

Opportunity Peterborough, the city’s economic development company, with support from Peterborough Regional College, is launching an exciting new programme of business support to city-based young entrepreneurs. The Ignite Peterborough programme, which launches on 4th June, will offer young entrepreneurs running new and established companies a suite of support services, including pre-start up advice, mentoring, consultancy, workshop training and qualification opportunities.

An event to mark the launch of Ignite Peterborough will be held on 4th June from 4pm-6pm at the Eco Innovation Centre on City Road, a serviced and shared office with incubation space which is managed by Opportunity Peterborough.

The Ignite Peterborough programme is a free service for young entrepreneurs aged between 16 and 30 and is based at the Eco Innovation Centre. Anyone interested in learning more about the services on offer is invited to attend the launch event.

John Bridge, chairman of Opportunity Peterborough, said: “Peterborough is a great location for new business creations and we need to ensure help is available to support entrepreneurs in the early stages of start-up and development, which can often be the most challenging.

“This unique programme of business support aims to further strengthen the city’s economy by assisting young entrepreneurs to realise their commercial aspirations. From idea conception through to launch and beyond, Ignite Peterborough can help.”

Angela Joyce, principal & chief executive at Peterborough Regional College and University Centre Peterborough, said: “The enterprise agenda is an important one at the Regional College and as part of the Gazelle Group of Colleges we are progressing our enterprise strategy in many ways to support individuals, businesses and the local economy.

“We have many young people wishing to set up businesses and we work to support these aspirations wherever possible. Our support to the Ignite Peterborough initiative is another exciting way that we can enhance the futures of local young people and provide real support for the development of their businesses.”

The launch event is free, open to all and refreshments will be provided. Booking is essential, please register here: http://www.eventbrite.co.uk/o/opportunity-peterborough-6562799253?s=24948181 or via Opportunity Peterborough’s website.
