Eighteen residents are celebrating after winning awards from the city’s largest landlord for their hard work and dedication to making a difference for their local communities.
Cross Keys Homes held its third festive Awards Night to recognise those residents who have achieved great things for themselves, their neighbours or their whole communities.
More than 100 people attended with the red carpet even being laid out to greet the honoured guests.
Popular former DJ, Keith Dalton, hosted the evening with each of Cross Keys Homes’ Directors presenting one of the awards.
Chief Executive of Cross Keys Homes, Claire Higgins, said: “Congratulations must go to all the worthy winners and runners-up. It was a fantastic evening and was great to recognise the residents who are changing lives daily and are at the heart of what makes Cross Keys Homes the great organisation that it is today.”
There were eleven award categories that residents were nominated and shortlisted for:
Good Neighbour Award – this award was presented to Robert Pilgrim, who always goes out of his way to help his neighbours.
Young Person’s Achievement Award – was awarded to Tyrone Akena and Jaydon Rippon for their dedication to set up an under 18s football club for the Westwood and Ravernsthorpe area.
Personal Achievement (age 25+) Award – this was awarded to Charlene Jones for the way she has turned her life around.
Area Panel Member of the Year Award – was awarded to Gina Allen for all her dedication and hard work for the panel.
Estate Champion Award – this was awarded jointly to Cath Robertson and Alana Bartlett for their continued help with the WestRaven Big Local project.
Making a Difference Award – was presented to a group of residents from Larch Grove sheltered housing scheme for the keen interest they take in ensuring their scheme is maintained to a high standard.
Long Service Award – was awarded to Doris Cox who has been actively involved with Cross Keys Homes since the very beginning.
Bravery Award – was awarded to Sergejs Kalinkins for his positivity, help and patience to help Cross Keys Homes.
Extra Care Special Contribution Award – was awarded to Peter and Allison Keen and their ‘Pets as Therapy’ dog, Bella, who regularly visit Cross Keys Homes’ Extra Care Scheme, providing comfort to the residents of the scheme.
Special Recognition Award – was presented to Shannon Meachen for her dedication, resilience and strength as a young adult carer.
Resident Involvement Award – which was presented to Jean Baddeley for all the support she provides to the many groups she’s involved with.
All the winners received an award and certificate and the runners-up were also presented with certificates. All of which had been sponsored by Cross Keys Homes’ contractors Mears.
