Planning permission has been granted for 16 new affordable homes to be built in Westwood.
Consisting of 1, 2 and 3 bedroom homes, City’s landlord Cross Keys homes will develop the car park opposite Hampton Court’s shopping parade into much needed new affordable homes for local people.
Work on the £1.9 million development is anticipated to start in April with the tender process already underway.
The new homes will consist of 12 affordable rented and 4 shared ownership homes.
This development forms part of the housing associations long term strategic development plan which will also utilise over £280,000 of grant funding from the Homes and Communities Agency.
Cross Keys Homes’ Director of Neighbourhood Management, Joan Tibbs, said: “We are really pleased to begin work on developing this underused car park into much needed affordable new homes.
“We are committed to maintaining the vibrant business and residential community here at Westwood and as part of the development, we will also be improving Hampton Court as well as providing a brand new car park for shoppers.”
The new homes should be ready for people to move into early next year.
