Cross Keys Homes is building skills and confidence in the workforce of the future

Cross Keys Homes is proud to welcome six new pre-apprentices into the organisation, as part of its commitment to support young people into work.

The pre-apprentice programme is a paid placement for young people aged between 16 and 24, designed to help them to develop and gain valuable skills that will help them move onto employment, education, or training after the placement.

As well as gaining experience in the work environment, the six month placement gives the young people the opportunity to attend employability training including first aid, CV writing workshops, interview preparation, and take part in team building exercises throughout their time with the organisation.

Speaking about his pre-apprenticeship, Sergio Correia, Neighbourhood Assistant Pre-apprentice said: “Thanks to my pre-apprenticeship, I have the opportunity to grow and develop exciting new prospects for myself that will shape my future career, and I’m really looking forward to the next few months at Cross Keys Homes. I saw the pre-apprenticeship as a fantastic opportunity to further my skills, as well as to gain customer service and administration experience to add to my CV.”

Claire Higgins, Cross Keys Homes’ Chief Executive, added “Our pre-apprentice programme is a real example of how we are trying to create opportunities for our communities. Giving young people the chance to gain practical work experience and guidance that will shape their future careers is something that we are incredibly proud of and means so much to everyone involved in the programme.

“It is always fantastic for us to see the young people grow and thrive in the six months that they are with us, as they build skills and confidence, which will hopefully help them develop fulfilling careers and promising futures.”

Cross Keys Homes were recently awarded for their dedication to support local apprenticeships during National Apprenticeship Week 2017, and they are committed to delivering opportunities that inspire the next generation by providing opportunities for them to achieve qualifications, accreditations and participate in positive activities.
