Credit where it’s due – Mock Creditors meeting draws the crowds

On the night of the Oscar Nominations, another great dramatic event took place closer to home.

City solicitors Roythornes joined forces with Bulley Davey accountants to stage a Mock Creditor’s Meeting, which attracted over 40 businesses from as far as Birmingham and Leicester.

Kate Robbins, head of Roythornes Debt Recovery team said:

“The Meeting followed the case of Dizz Aster Builders who had been less than honest in their trading and as the meeting played out, it became clear there were many skeletons in the cupboard which affected their financial position”.

The event aimed to show businesses what happens at a Creditors Meeting, and how they can identify issues and ask questions which may increase the chances of them recovering more of the money they are owed. The ‘cast’ included members of staff from both Roythornes and Bulley Davey, together with members of the audience.

Mike Gregson from Bulley Davey said:

“The feedback from delegates was excellent with most saying that it brought what could be a dry seminar subject alive, as well as providing a few laughs on the way. Sadly as more firms suffer in the economic slowdown, Creditors Meetings are becoming a more common event and knowing how to handle one should be a key part of any businesses knowledge.”
