CKH's Northminster development receives top marks in latest assessment

Cross Keys Homes (CKH) flagship Northminster development scheme has been awarded full marks in its first Considerate Constructors Scheme assessment.

The housing regeneration site, which is being developed by Willmott Dixon, received an ‘excellent’ rating with top marks being awarded in the Considerate Constructors’ community, environment and workforce categories after the first visit by the assessor recently.

Cross Keys Homes’ Technical Director – Northminster, Gary Clarke, said: “It is fantastic news to know that not only are we building state of the art apartments for the city, but that we are doing so in a considerate way that takes in to account all the different elements that comes into play, which might impact on the locality when building a scheme of this size.

“This nationally recognised inspection and certification scheme is a great way to benchmark our site activities against good practice across the country and this first inspection is only one of what is likely to be 4 or 5 reviews throughout the life of the scheme.

Dan Doyle, Director at Willmott Dixon, added: “We’re really pleased this site has scored full marks on its first Consideration Constructors Scheme visit. Ensuring that we’re being considerate to those living near our projects is of the upmost importance to us.

“The monitor who was scoring the visit made particular reference to the work our team is doing to support a Skills Bootcamp in Construction programme that’s being run at the job centre opposite the site. The programme is designed to help unemployed individuals find employment, and we’re thrilled to have already found one person work on the Northminster development site as part of this initiative.

“We look forward to providing more support to the local community as the project progresses.”

Northminster is set to provide 315 affordable homes over the next couple of years in the centre of Peterborough along with two retail units and promises to be a landmark development offering sustainable, contemporary city centre living.

The scheme is being built using modern methods of construction and will provide quality apartments across two connected wings with a number of townhouses at ground floor level, alongside the retail units.
