CKH celebrates award shortlist success

Cross Keys Homes (CKH) has been shortlisted in two categories in one of the most prestigious awards in the housing sector, having been named as finalists in the Central Region of the Tpas Awards in the ‘Excellence in Community Action’ and ‘Excellence in Employment Skills and Training – Landlord’ categories.

The WestRaven Big Local project, which CKH is closely involved with as the locally trusted partner organisation, has been shortlisted in the Excellence in Community Action category for the outstanding achievements the volunteer led group has made in the regeneration of the Westwood and Ravensthorpe area. The project has seen the opening of the Community Café and gardens and the recent launch of the WestBeats youth space.

CKH’s ‘All About You’ courses were recognised in the Excellence in Employment Skills and Training – Landlord category for the support they are offering to adult learners who are least likely to participate in mainstream learning.

The courses, which include basic home maintenance, confidence building, healthy eating on a budget, and accessing essential support services, are targeted at those facing significant barriers to traditional learning. They are delivered in the community and provide one to one support and tailor made training.

CKH’s Chief Executive, Claire Higgins, said of the award success: “Being shortlisted in these awards is a huge achievement for CKH, highlighting how we really deliver people focused services that get to the heart of the challenges those living in our communities face, and provide solid outcomes. Our involvement in the WestRaven Big Local project has enabled the resident led group to access funds and resources they may not be able to access alone.

“We are also determined to offer targeted support to those individuals who need it most. The ‘All About You’ courses highlight how we reach out to the most vulnerable and excluded with really innovative approaches to help them help themselves. Being recognised by an organisation such as Tpas is a real testament to the hard work of all the team here at CKH to deliver truly people centred solutions. We are all delighted as we are so very proud of what we do.”

The Tpas Awards showcase the compelling and inspirational success stories of tenants, landlords and contractors working together across the communities of England. They celebrate the people, ideas and organisations that shape the tenant involvement work of tomorrow.
