City College Peterborough, based in Brook Street, was nominated as the overall winner in the Peterborough Telegraph Business Awards 2014 Corporate Social Responsibility category at the prestigious awards’ ceremony on Friday 21 November.
The judging panel said that the College had been outstanding in the help and support provided to adults and young people across the city furthest away from education, employment or training to help them get into work and lead a more fulfilling life. The College was up against tough competition for the CSR award with fellow finalists Cross Keys Homes and Buckles Solicitors also chasing the award.
City College Peterborough Principal, Pat Carrington, said “It was an honour to receive this award in recognition of all the great work my colleagues undertake both inside and outside the classrooms. We deliver learning at the most appropriate place for the individual, whether that is here in the College, in the workplace or out in the community. It is important that everyone has the opportunity to learn new skills, meet new people and have a voice in their local communities. We are so proud of our students achievements and it is so rewarding when we see them progress and achieve their own personal goals.”
This is the second time the College has picked up an PT Business Award in the past 12 months as they were nominated the overall winner of the Customer Service Category at the 2013 awards.
