City business skills survey launched

Opportunity Peterborough, the city’s economic development company, has launched its annual skills survey and is inviting local businesses to have their say to give a comprehensive picture of Peterborough’s current skill levels and potential future gaps.

The results of the survey will help to inform what education providers offer city-based employees of the future, which will contribute to meeting local business needs and resolving recruitment problems, ultimately boosting economic growth in the city.

The survey is available to complete online and, by responding, companies will help to identify any skills gaps, training needs and experience required to compete for contracts in their business sector.

Neil Darwin, chief executive at Opportunity Peterborough, said: “We often hear that businesses struggle to find people with the right skills and capabilities for vacant positions. This survey forms part of a long-term plan in Peterborough to ensure our local companies can find skilled people when they need them.”

Opportunity Peterborough will analyse all responses and use the information to influence what provision is delivered in Peterborough. The results will be available online in January 2014.
